希望在明天, 今年勝舊年

哇, 這裡荒廢好久了, 差點沒雜草叢生也...

2008 年經大家經歷了不少大起大跌, 但新的一年, 總該存有盼望, 年年難過年年過嘛。

最珍貴的禮物 (2)

最近身邊不少友好紛紛拉埋天窗, 為他們高興之餘, 也祝各位新婚夫婦白頭到老, 永結同心。在婚禮上, 聽得最多的, 就是下面的兩段 ~~ (剛巧和上文一樣是有很多個 "if" 的)


我若能說萬人的方言，並天使的話語，卻沒有愛，我就成了鳴的鑼，響的鈸一般。
我若有先知講道之能，也明白各樣的奧祕，各樣的知識，而且有全備的信，叫我能夠移山，卻沒有愛，我就算不得什麼。
我若將所有的賙濟窮人，又捨己身叫人焚燒，卻沒有愛，仍然與我無益。


If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

接著的, 大家都很熟悉了:

愛是恆久忍耐，又有恩慈；愛是不嫉妒；愛是不自誇，不張狂，

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

聖誕節是分享愛的節日, 但願我們對別人, 對自己都愛多一點。

最珍貴的禮物

聖誕節快到了, 對於世上不少人來說 (無論你信不信教), 是一個普天同慶的日子, 當中很重要的一個元素, 是因為這是一個分享的節日。正如上帝藉著耶穌基督的降生將祂的愛分享給世人, 人們也會趁著聖誕節互贈禮物, 並會樂於賙濟窮乏的人。能夠分享, 不啻是一種福氣, 因為你能與人分享你所有的, 你已比很多人幸福了。

在雜誌上看到幾篇有意思的文章, 都是環繞著 "Giving More" 的主題, 不原文照錄了, 看這裡吧:

施予的季節

文中引用的詩, 即是作者的祖母送給他的聖誕禮物, 是英國詩人 Rudyard Kipling 的 If。這個可以照抄原文:

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

這首詩, 驟眼看有點似曾相識...好像是吾人中學時代的英文課文 (還是朗誦誦材?), 現在回想起來, 真是想爆頭也不明白, 選這篇詩的人怎麼會期望一個懵懵下的中學生, 會細味到當中的深意和期許? 十多年後再讀, 開始懂了一點, 但我相信, 這是個一生的修為。願在這佳節, 共勉之。

畫公仔畫出腸

某日見一巴士經過，車身廣告雖然只是驚鴻一瞥，可是實在太令人印象深刻！
廣告賣的是女性用品，牌子名正是

‧
‧
小！姨！媽！

媽媽咪呀，駛唔駛畫公仔畫哂出腸呢？差在未叫什麼「飄飄紅」或者「紅飄飄」了吧！
驟眼看這個好像是內地品牌來的，都咪話內地人落後，這方面比香港人不知開放／開通多少！

語言小知識：點解女性月事會被暱稱為「姨媽」呢？原來是番文俚語譯過來的，即是 "Aunt Flo"。哈哈，原來是這樣的，我還是到現在才知呢。
